Friday Confessional

Anyone else ready for a break right now? I could use a long comfy, carefree vacation. Kid free, of course. Even though I posted today I figured a good confessional was in order.

So I confess:

  • I woke up at 8:20 this morning.
  • I have to take the kids to school at 8:30.
  • This was after my alarm went off for 30 minutes and then gave up on me.
  • My kids aren’t self-starters so, shocker, they weren’t ready.
  • But they did get breakfast.
  • A good healthy breakfast.
  • Donuts.
  • Breakfast of champions.
  • You know I’m really, really tired when I actually have the thought, “The kids don’t need to go to school, right” just so I can stay in bed.
  • I got them there on time, thank goodness.
  • I am almost looking forward to the Christmas break just for the slow mornings and lack of homework.
  • Speaking of school, whenever Cheeseboy posts a video of one of his school programs I want to put my house up for sell, move to his school zone and make my kids take first grade from him EVERY. YEAR.
  • One of the coolest teachers around, I’m pretty sure!
  • Speaking of cool teachers, my 3rd grader’s teacher actually came to my daughter’s piano recital last night!
  • Totally happily surprised! That was so nice!
  • Like I said before, I really want a vacation.
  • But I’d probably just sleep and eat.  And then sleep again.
  • I bet my husband would looooove that kind of vacation for our anniversary..

You got the kids ready in 10 minutes...you're a rock star. I can't even get downstairs in the mornings in ten minutes and especially not when I've been pregnant. A gold star for you! And congrats on the 4th girl...at least you know you make adorable ones!!

My Hubs is off work until the first of the year now but *I'm* the one getting the vacation! I have to work (too new for vacation time) which means I'll be in a quiet, clean, nearly-vacant office while he's at home wrestling kids and cleaning the house. Oh yeah! *I* am getting the better end of this deal!

That is really, really nice about your daughter's teacher. I would love to go to those types of things, but I am afraid if I went to one, everyone else would be sad if I didn't go to theirs too and then I am in a neverending chain of recitals and baptisms and the like.

Thanks for the compliment. I have more videos coming! I like to think I am a cool teacher. If only I could get my wife to think I'm cool.

I am beyond impressed that you got them to school on time.. if I woke up that late there would have been no way.

I love being on the other end of the "10-minute mom" routine at school--frantic little squinch-eyed child with bedhead, donut in hand, backpack flailing, bolts through the door as the last tones of the ringing bell die away, hollering, "My MOM made me late and she said I have to eat this NOW!" You don't mess with a kid in that condition. You just say "ok". What you want to say is, "Don't worry kid, your life will improve--in about 15 years!

I'm sure you will definitely appreciate when your kids can drive and you can sleep in! But then you might just worry about them driving. I know my mom did, lol. But I did alright. Didn't get my first ticket until last year when I was in my second year of college.
