When ElRey and I were first married, we didn’t plan on buying any furniture because we had no money. But one day we happened to be visiting RC Willey and saw this great living room set(which, by the way, every other young couple within a 20 mile radius apparently bought, too) for relatively cheap and since RC Willey hands out credit to any old dumbass, we ended up with a nice set of couches, end tables, lamps and a coffee table and a lovely monthly payment.
Things started disappearing from our little set through the years. First, it was the coffee table that had a cracked leg and we feared a head injury being inflicted on the smallest of family members. Then a lamp moved into the bedroom. To save space, we moved an end table out of our front room. Suddenly our living room set became just the couches and end table with lamp.
For our children these couches have been a trampoline, table, napkin, art pad, and toilet. We’ve tried cleaning them with a carpet cleaner, spot cleaning and we’ve even thrown the upholstery in the washer! Yeah, they shrank. As much as we’d love to renew our monthly payments at good ole RC Willey, we decided to resort to the next best thing. Slip covers.
*Note, I am sure there will be at least 3 comments of people saying they have these same couches just from this small peek,
With the slip covers we suddenly had brand new couches. And, they’re washable and shrinkable! They saved us from humiliation of water stains and funky smells. They renewed our living room and our love for one another. Okay, so it didn’t go quite that far, but we were no longer embarrassed of our living room.
The problem is that now I think there should be a slip cover for everything. Something you just drape over whatever may be unseemly and make it new again. That way magic would happen. Allow me to demonstrate.
Now, for those slip covers, I’d make a special trip to Bed, Bath and Beyond. I’d even buy ‘em on credit!

LOL! Love the before and after pics. You look amazingly like Jennifer Aniston! Slip covers are the absolute best. They really do make things better. :)
Holy magic! I totally want some.
i want to order the angelina jolie slipcover. heck, i'd even settle for the "me before i had 3 babies and got 8 straight hours of sleep every night" slip cover. as always, love your ideas mindi and i'm still crossing my fingers on that coke vending machine in the church lobby :)
We have couches very similar, but not the same one.
Now, since you mentioned RC Willey, I will just say, someone very, very close to me is a VP there. He will be happy to hear you are spending money there.
Because I don't want to disappoint you, my sister does have those exact same couches that she bought as a newly wed.....on a fairly foolish RC Wiley credit plan.
And I've got to say....I love the wall paper in your new slipcovered room. I think I would have to quit my job and become a permanent shut in. I would not be able to force myself out of that room. Love it!
I was getting a bit worried there. But alas! We DON'T have the same couches from RC Willey! Although mine need more than just a slipcover... like a lit match.
You rock, Mindi ...what more can I say!?
Love it! This post is awesome. There is a reason we are not buying a new table, living furniture, etc. With kids our kids ages Buying new stuff is just setting you up for stress and trouble.
My apartment has wood pannelling! there is no slipcover for that, yuck! I feel like I am living in a hunting lodge:) I read some article about how amazing Jennifer Aniston is, apparently it only takes stylists 3 HOURS to get her ready for the red carpet. What a gem. It takes my stylists a good 6 hours to get me ready for work everyday. :)
How funny. I love the slip cover but I'm a great fan of Jennifer A. However I do like Angelina too...oh, goodness, now I'm confused.
Ha.
Mary
Thank you for the idea! We've been throwing around the idea of new couches, but didn't really want to spend the money. And since our set is similar (but not the same, and not bought at RC), now I know slipcovers will work! That and a few new throw pillows. So much cheaper!
Oh, and I'd really like the Drew Barrymore slipcover, for myself! :)
