You know it's been a rough week when you are actually looking forward to the peace and quiet of a yearly appointment with your friendly OB. Oh, the breeze on your backside which is hanging out of the nice modest gown they give you. And they are so kind to give you a napkin to cover the 'bottom half'. We wouldn't want to expose ourselves, would we?! It's so relaxing to sit there on a hard table in a chilly room neked while you wait and wait and wait for the oh so busy doctor! Just give me a Pina Colada and it's almost like being on the beach in Hawaii!! The anticipation of what will happen is like Christmas Eve! The stirrups, like a fun horsey ride in front of the grocery store! Weeeeeee!
When the physician's assistant came in she asked if I had any concerns (you mean besides by booty hanging out the back??). I got the courage to tell her that I'm concerned about my weight, I just can't seem to shed the last 20lbs. I am not kidding when I tell you this! She looked at my chart and said, "Oh, yeah! You are up there!". Brutal honesty is the BEST policy, I always say! She proceeded to tell me I needed to go on a 1200 calorie a day diet or she could prescribe a diet pill for 30 days. Hmmmmm....tough choice! I just politely said, "thank you I will try 1200 calories" and went and ate carrots for lunch....I'm feeling better already...aside from the black-outs...

You should have punched her in the nose! Nice bedside manner!
Are you kidding me? Grrr. We live in such a 'fattist' society. I told my doctor I have been really, really tired lately, and she told me to join weight watchers. We got the blood work back and I am anemic. I think a normal number is 50, mine was at 10. Other than that, low blood pressure, perfect blood work. I wanted to punch her in the nose. Don't get me going.
PS-I don't know what you mean about 20 lbs, you look perfect to me!
Stop it with the Hawaii thing already! You're enjoying those appointments a little too much girl!:) lol
Weight shmeight...being "up there" is all relative. In RS the other week we talked about how we don't need to look like the girls in the magazines. We need to be healthy and stive for healthy bodies, not to be "skinny". So I'm pretty sure that I heard once that a balanced diet is a donut (chocolate) in one hand and a Diet Coke in the other. Sounds pretty good to me!
You're beautiful Mindi Jeppson. Inside and out. *Trying to be serious here.* At the end of the day, we are still daughters of God, and our added pounds are our evidence that we indeed are mothers and excellent cooks for our husbands. So let's wear our extra pounds of "baby weight" with pride!
...Holy cow, I need to go to bed!!!
every time i try to wrap that napkin around my bottom half i swear that next time i'll remember to wear the longest shirt i own so i don't automatically show crack to anyone that opens the door! sheesh! anyways, i can't believe about the 20 lbs either, i think they still go by the charts of what we should weigh as teenagers. seriously, they are getting it wrong somewhere...
You're nuts and you don't need to lose 20 lbs.!! I am fat ...you are not! So there! stick that in your PA's stirrup!
First off...You are so flippin hillarious!! i can always count on getting my laugh in for the day when I read your blog! I love it!! @nd of all...Holy cow...you do not need to lose another 20...You look great! Besides...you are totaly healthy and thats what matters!!
I love reading your blog. You are so funny and so true.
Mindi,
I literally laughed out loud not caring if it woke the baby. You always did keep me in stitches. A vivid picture I won't be forgetting any time soon and yet I felt like the next time I go to my OB (next month) you will be there in spirit :)! Loves and kisses,
Monica
I know this is an old post, but once I had to get a chest x-ray. The lady doing it said, and I quote, "Man your rib cage is huge. HUGE. I'm going to have to use two seperate films."
Lady, unless you are talking about my boobs or my beautiful blue eyes...please don't refer to any part of my body as huge.
