When we found out we were pregnant, we were very excited to share the news! It was especially hard for me to hold in that kind of secret and I failed on a number of occasions. I knew I wanted to do something special to tell our girls about the news. They have been asking for a baby brother for a very long time and I kept telling them that as soon as daddy grew a uterus we’d get right on that. That usually got them sufficiently confused so they would stop asking.
So when we actually were pregnant we wanted to make a big deal about it since their ages made them more aware of what was going on and to be excited about it. I started searching online for how to go about telling them and the best ideas all involved a T-shirt with the announcement on it. I am pathetically craft challenged so I didn’t want to rely on my skillz so I started searching the internets for the perfect shirts. That’s where I found this cute store:
Here you can buy all sorts of personalized shirts for siblings and birth orders and even birth announcements that Erin Delanty has created. There are so many cute choices and you can add each child’s name to the shirt. Here’s some of my favorites:
We finally picked one we could both agree on:
There are Dad/Grandpa shirts. Here is my favorite ‘Dad Shirt’:
I need to get that for ElRey! Hopefully we haven’t used up all our adorable juices and the 4th one comes out looking like a monkey or something!
They also have some of the cutest blankies for your newest baby!

And the most adorable tooth fairy pillows I’ve ever seen!

So back to our announcement. We decided to give them the shirts the morning we left for Yellowstone so they can show them off to their aunts, uncles and cousins since we hadn’t told them yet. So here’s the video of them finding out. Please ignore my voice-I sound like a drunken sailor in drag, and apparently inflicted with the consumption but my kids are cute!
It was so fun to have each family see the shirts and react. There was more excitement about it than I expected-since this is the 4th kid and all! It was fun to see their surprise and happiness for our growing family!
The kids wear their shirts at least once or twice a week and they love them! I had many people come and ask if it was true since my sweet nibblets have been shouting their joy from the rooftops…and their shirts..

I love this idea! Such a fun way to make an announcement.
Those shirts are too cute! I wish I would have found them before baby brother was born!
Congrats on your pregnancy! I don't even remember how we told our kids we were having another baby. You're too awesome!
That's so cute! With our kids, we would probably just say, "boys, you all have to share a room now 'cuz we need the space. Who's excited!" But now I'm inspired to be more creative.
So cute!!! I love how Lily is jumping for joy and she probably has no idea at that point what she's excited for. Too cute!!!
It took a bit. But once they caught on, it was pure entertainment. Congrats again.
Awww, they are all too cute!...Three girls, huh...You're going to be able to bottle the PMS in your house.
BUt it's a terrific idea.
Did you get one that said, "Daddy grew a uterus?"
Very cute! I feel compelled to say "I hope it's a boy" but I'm from a family of all-girls and that pretty much rocks. Either way, Congratulations!
Your girls are so stinkin cute! and what a fun idea! (ya you do kinda sound like a drunken sailor-must of been before your morning drink :))
LOVE the shirts! The girls are so cute and how did Lilly's hair get so long? She is Rapunzel in the making! When do you find out what it is? I really love the tooth fairy pillows, but since it always takes the tooth fairy a few days of forgetting, we haven't had much need for pillows around here, just A LOT of excuses like "The tooth fairy got stuck in Asia and hasn't made it to North America yet...where's that letter she left you?" I digress...see how excited I am to make a comment on your blog??
I cannot stop watching that video!! So so sweet! :) Congrats again - can't wait to outfit your "flock" as soon as baby brother (fingers crossed) or sister arrives!! :)
I just LOVE the one-liners..."We gotta tell grandma!...we have too much girls...how do you know?...it's a great day! Ah....are you going to be able to sleep? Is it in there?...YES!YES!YES!" Priceless.
Such a cute video!
That was so so cute! "we have too many girls". Hehe too funny.
They are so cute! What a fun way to share the news.
How adorable! Your girls are the cutest, I can't wait for another niece or perhaps a nephew to love.
