As I was brushing my baby’s hair the other day, I realized she has yet to have a haircut. My other 2 girls had their first haircut by yours truly when they were around 1 year old. That is one of the big differences between my first 2 and my 3rd. Here are some examples.
Audrey:
This was taken just a couple days after she was born. In fact, when we were waiting for the doctor to come catch her when I was laboring, the nurse on duty could see Audrey’s head coming out. I am not lying when she reached down into my exposed nether regions, played with my daughter’s hair on her crowning head and said, “Look at all that hair!” There I was exposed and vulnerable with my husband in a dazed stupor and the stranger nurse trying to braid my unborn child’s hair.
I had about 7 jokes running through my head but amazingly kept them all to myself so as not to embarrass anyone (besides myself, of course, did I mention how neked I was??).
I am that magnanimous.
Here she is at a year old. Obviously that hair never fell out and it just kept on growing. I had to cut it just to even it out a bit. Isn’t she cute???
Annie:
The running joke about her was she was born with a hairdryer and flatiron. I think I would remember that, though. Her hair didn’t stick up everywhere but it was thick and a lot! We had her in pigtails by 4 months. She’s a hard one to find a picture of! She was in constant motion!
This is around a year old. She quickly learned that she didn’t like having her hair done so I had to cut bangs just to keep her hair out of her face.
Lily:
Yup! She was our little baldy! Apparently the first 2 took all the hair genes. At least they didn’t take all the cute genes, too! When she came out my first thought was, “Oh…she’s bald….” Isn’t that awful?? She certainly fit her name, small, delicate and beautiful.
And here she is at about a year old. Still pretty bald but still cute! She has much more hair now but I have yet to cut it at all.
As I walked into church one day, a friend of mine said, “You have a lot of hair to fix at your house!” Yes, yes I do. Just ask my bath drain. It’s gonna cough up a hair ball any day now!

Holy moly, I can't believe that picture of Audrey! She and Isaiah have the most hair on a newborn I have ever seen. (Wait, did that make sense? anyway.) Your girls do have lots of pretty hair! I love that little Lily, every time I see her I just want to give her a squeeze.
Cute girls! Funny how much less hair your third has, she also had lighter hair at birth too.
I swear my first took all the seconds hair. The problem is, now the second is making me want to pull mine out!
Your kids are beautiful!
Freakin' cute kids! Love it. BTW, I had at least 7 jokes running through my head as well the first part of your post! I just have to commend you on refraining! You're so lady-like :)
I remember crazy hair baby! I think your kids are adorable! And I am a thick haired auntie who knows where they got the thick hair genes!
Funny Story from Jana:
On the Sunday of Brittani's homecoming talk, I was sitting with my mom on the back pew ... Lily was out in the hall with one of you, but the parent could not be seen ... anyway, Lily was playing pick a boo with me from the doorway. My mom leaned over and said to me, "what a darling little girl!" I said, "of course she is, she's my niece, how could she miss!" My mom looked at me and rolled her eyes and said "Jana, you can't claim every child as your family ... just because you want to...it doesn't work like that!" "no mom," I replied," she really is my niece!" "OK dear," she pats my arm like I've lost my mind, "whatever makes you happy". "No mom, really!"
"Jana, I do not have a grand daughter named Lily!"
and I reply ... "I understand that, Babs!" (I call my mom that sometimes) "But Kathy does ... You know, your ex husbands wife!"
My mom laughed so hard with embarrassment that she had to run to the bathroom for fear of wetting herself!
So cute! I never knew your older girls had so much hair when they were born....that's awesome!
A few of my sisters also have/had 'hairy babies'. Everywhere you take a cutie like that it's the same thing "Look at all that hair!"
ALL of your babies are beautiful- hair or no!
My baldest kid ended up having the best head of hair so you just never can tell.
awwww...you girls are so stinkin CUTE!! I remember when you were pregnant with Lily & Karlie was telling me how your other two girls were born with SO much hair. I was surprised when I saw lil Lily for the first time & she had hardly any hair! She is a cutie any way!
Its fun to go back and look at baby pics, they use to be so innocent!!
Kenz has the MOST hair out of my kids. crazy stuff. My poor bald babies
At the Kearns pool some fellow swimmers were asking me about Audrey's hair. (They must have thought I was her mom because she was telling me that she went off the diving board.) Anyway, we agreed that many a gal pay good money to get that color! She and all your girls are dolls! Have another one to see what happens next!
Beautiful kiddos. And I witnessed as much of a birth as I could handle this summer...and I'm completely floored that you could have a joke, let alone multiple jokes, running through your head at that time. You are my heroine.
