Hey! Look at me! I’m posting again! Wow!
As I mentioned before, my husband was out of town all week last week, my children are home and omnipresent and I am just trying to keep it together. And shower at least once or twice. So when my kids said, “We want to have a water stand!” I said, “Umm…okay…good luck with that. Here’s water and cups.” Yeah, I didn’t even put ice in it. All I was thinking is that’ll keep them busy for 20 minutes, they’ll get bored and come back in.
Two hours later, they come in sunburned and rich. They made $3 and I caught up on Kate and her hair…I mean kids… All I know is, my house was blissfully quiet while I watched them through the window and my 2 year old napped.
I was a happy camper.
Shortly after, I started hearing from my scammed and disgruntled neighbors on Facebook.
From Cassie:
“So I thought your cute daughter was selling some Kool Aid.....I find out too late, that its water (Side note: there was a sign saying “WATER FOR SALE”)! What the what?! 50 cents for water (Side note: that’s right! Best freaking tap water this side of the tracks!!)?! Alexis said I could have my $$$ back, and Audrey was like NOOO (Side note: Hey, a couple guys paid them a buck just for pure cuteness! You got a deal!) ! ha ha ha seriously! Give the poor girl a Kool Aid packet! :) Its all good, I told them they could keep the 50 cents but next time its FREE! ha ha ha
I wanted to be a brat & throw something at your window, but I didn't, I saw you sitting on your couch, watching Kate plus 8 (Side note: I prefer to call it ‘research’, I mean it is on THE LEARNING CHANNEL!). I was walking & told Hunter that he could get some KoolAid from the stand. He was so excited! :P
So when we got the water, I told Hunter he could just dump it out. He said that he would dump it out at our house, he did not want them to see him pouring it out!!
I was able to save the day with a popsicle!! You owe me big time!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA”
From Melanie:
“I wonder what happened to the good ol' days when kids sold lemonade for 25 cents. Today...all I got was a cup of water. lol....Thanks Audrey, it was the best tap water I have ever had. (Side note: See?? Told ya!!)… Mindi, she can keep the quarter(Side note: I offered to pay her back). However, I was offered water for 25 cents or a dollar. I wonder what I would have received had a paid the dollar (Side note: the same amount). I thought it was hilarious.”
So, next time you are in my neighborhood, have your cash ready and just look for the cute girls selling lukewarm cool, possibly floaty ridden clear, tap mountain spring water in used clean, fresh cups!
Why would I pay for a Koolaid packet or clean cups?? That’s just pure overhead!

That's awesome!
I think it's totally worth it. After all, the water would have a slight Dunford donut aroma wafting nearby...
mmmm...
I'll take "Business Ethics" for 100.
That is a great story. Wish my kids would do something funny like that that I could blog about.
And its posts like this that make me want to tell you that you have MANY years left to blog!! Who will entertain me?? I LOVE your blog:) p.s.- My children once attempted to sell cupcakes that they had licked the frosting off of. In front of the customers. My mother made my father come and buy them:)
so when will they start delivering this lukewarm water because i would gladly pay money for it. especially if it has floaties in it.
Oh dear! First of all- I can't believe you are using my Fb comments! ha ha ha You ARE hard up for posts! :)
Second- I did not see the dang sign that said WATER!
Third-My water is the BEST this side of the tracks!
fourth-The learning channel ROCKS!
HEE HEE!
Hey, if she can turn that kind of profit, more power to her! LOL!
Soooo funny! I LOVE how Genius selling water is, and in gently used,Ego friendly)cups too! Way to go girls....Someday they are going to make it on Apprentice with that kind of go get em attitude, especially Audrey, holding firm with a no refund policy! lol Tooo cute!!
That totally cracked me up. I am laughing way hard at your neighbors who got ripped off and then were still bugged enough to go home and facebook about it. You know what I say to that -- FREE ADVERTISING!
SOOO funny. Thanks for the laugh.
Hahahahahahahahaha!!! Cassie may be my twin but I got the brains!!! "That Koolaid tastes just like water!"
Lol! You are teaching them well. So awesome that they made $3 on water!
Is that resourcefulness in the Thomas gene pool? I sure hope so! I'm counting on my grandkids to think up some similar, equally ingenious (sp?)business venture, one that will pay for dry diapers until my dying day! Yours obviously have the jump on that one (for the moment). Great story!
